Kansas Wildscape Foundation's 30 for 30 Fundraiser

The Kansas Wildscape Foundation is recognizing its 30th birthday in 2021 and would like to celebrate by raising $30,000 for upcoming programs and projects!!!

The Kansas Wildscape Foundation, founded in 1991, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and creating public outdoor opportunities for all Kansans.  It’s governed by a board of directors comprised of distinguished men and women from various Kansas businesses and organizations while an Executive Director manages daily operations.  Over the last three decades Wildscape was instrumental in financing construction of 73 cabins in state parks and wildlife areas, creating the Outdoor Kansas (OK) for Kid’s and WildLifer Challenge programs, financing the construction of Milford Wetlands, coordinating Arkansas River Public Access Sites, Get Outdoors (GO) Kansas promotion and other projects that provided opportunities for all people to enjoy Kansas’ wild places.

More recently, Wildscape was a major financial sponsor of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Park’s inaugural, Great Kansas Fishing Derby.  Biologists hoped to tag up to 500 fish of various species in smaller, accessible waters across Kansas.  Each tag was redeemable for cash or prizes and the goal of the Derby was to sustain the significant increase seen in fishing license sales from 2020, as well as to promote the fun of fishing for individuals and families.  The Derby started May 1st and runs through the end of July.

Other areas of cooperative Wildscape projects in the future include KDWP’s R3 (recruitment, retention and reactivation) Program focusing on sustaining or increasing the number of hunters and anglers in Kansas, Kansas’ National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP), youth and special hunting opportunities and fishing clinics for novice or experienced anglers.  Wildscape will also assist with the popular, Becoming An Outdoors (BOW) Woman, administration as well as assisting KDWP law enforcement with their “Operation Game Thief” program, an area of emphasis aimed at preventing fish and wildlife poaching crimes. Additionally, cabin maintenance and construction projects in new and existing locations within Kansas State Parks will also be on the list to accomplish in the future.

If you would like to donate (tax deductible under Kansas state law) realize your generosity will benefit all Kansans who enjoy the great outdoors.  Kansas has some of the most unique, beautiful, and special wild places of any state in the Midwest and our natural resource opportunities are second to none.  It’s Wildscape’s hope we can help and encourage Kansas residents from all corners of the state to find each and every one of them and enjoy!!!
