Kansas One-Shot Turkey Hunt

Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Traditions

Kansas One-Shot Turkey Hunt was held recently in and around El Dorado.  Former Governor Mike Hayden started this annual event in 1987 and it brings businesses, both public and private, celebrities and dignitaries together with Kansas landowners and guides.  Part of this invitation-only event that’s garnered lots of support over the years are young hunters invited to participate.  For most this is their first experience turkey hunting and the 2023 event saw all five youngsters bag their first turkey.

The Kansas Wildscape Foundation, partnered with hunt organizers and Outdoor Mentors-Pass It On, helped sponsor a swag bag of epic proportions each young hunter took home.  The youngsters, randomly selected from 82 youth applicants, each received their very own TriStar shotgun, TrueTimber head-to-toe camouflage, Bushnell binoculars and custom knife.  Additionally, Wildscape was proud to provide each youngster with a Kansas lifetime hunting license and Kansas turkey permit.  Wildscape was proud to partner with the Lattner Family Foundation to make this event the experience of a lifetime for all these aspiring hunters.
