Milford Tree Planting Project

100 Trees

On Thursday, November 18th, 2010, the Kansas Wildscape Foundation partnered up with Milford State Park, the Armed Services YMCA, the Sierra Club, and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks to host a Tree Planting Ceremony in honor of Veteran’s Day. The ceremony’s tree was the first of 100 trees and bushes to be planted by military children and their families at Milford State Park over the next year.

Matt Herr, then sophomore at Junction City High School was commissioned by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks to plant the first tree of the project and create the master plan for tree locations throughout the new cabins area at Milford State Park. The plan will be used to plant over 100 tree and bushes in the spring of 2011 by military children and their families participating in the Kansas Wildscape Foundation’s WildLifer Challenge Program.
